Who We Are

GSU’s Community Research Center has tremendous expertise in identifying HIV positive persons through over 15 years of NIH-funded network research in high burden zip codes throughout metro-Atlanta. The Linkage to Care Peer Guide Training Program is crucial to these efforts. Increasingly, HIV service providers are realizing the importance of field-based peer navigation – of meeting people where they are – in an effort to reach more than 40% of persons in the Atlanta Eligible Metropolitan Area (EMA) who know their positive status but have fallen out of medical care. With a grant from the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Community Research Center created the Linkage to Care Peer Guide Training Program to address this gap.
