Linkage to Care Peer Guide Training Program
For the first cohort of the Linkage to Care Peer Guide Training Program, the Elton John AIDS Foundation funded us to train Peer Guides who had experienced incarceration and/or addiction, but whom were now sober, stable, and had a commitment to giving back. Because of the success of our pilot program, the Elton John AIDS Foundation has committed to supporting us for a 2nd year. The second cohort will prioritize the recruitment of transgender women of color and young African-American men who have sex with men. Recent studies have found that these groups are hardest hit by the HIV epidemic in Atlanta, and linking these individuals to care can be very challenging. With the help of trained Peer Guides who have rapport in these communities, we hope to slow the pace of the epidemic here in Atlanta.
